BAKR jewelry
Pictogram refreshing for a jewerly company
2024
Welcome to the timeless world of BAKR, a jewelry company that proudly continues to write its history through three generations. BAKR has its roots in the picturesque Alexandria, Egypt, where the first generation nurtured the dream of creating jewelry that transcends time.
Today, the Maison is masterfully and passionately led by the three brothers Omar, Amer, and Samir, sons of the third generation.
Through refined Italian craftsmanship and the fusion of experiences handed down through an ancient family heritage, Bakr stands as a symbol of excellence in Made in Italy jewelry.
The true distinctive essence of BAKR lies in its unique and caring approach towards its clients. A beacon committed to offering a service that goes beyond selling jewelry, embracing the philosophy of total availability, BAKR is more than a family: it is a team ready to assist at any moment, with a deep understanding of the dynamics and human difficulties related to choosing meaningful jewelry. At the heart of the company's operations stands the monument to customer satisfaction, embodying the commitment to creating not only jewelry of extraordinary beauty but also shopping experiences that last a lifetime
The pictogram
I began with research by revisiting Alexandria's historical background, exploring BAKR jewelry's entire collection, and scanning through the company’s description.
I aimed to find an element that connects BAKR to its roots while moving forward to the future and beyond.
The main idea of the pictogram is inspired by three elements:
1- One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, Egypt, where BAKR's history began a couple of years ago. I analyzed the lighthouse's layout, with particular reference to the circular part.
2- The circular (closed) shape that jewelry takes to fit different parts of the body.
3- A base of three, representing the three generations of BAKR over time and also an idea of the future
The pictogram is composed of three proportional circular shapes, well-balanced, depicting the concept of heritage, a united and cohesive family, and progressive movement. These associated circles describe a general form of jewelry (necklace, ring, etc.) The circular shape of the pictogram defines a timeless concept connecting various cultures, creating a perpetual movement that adapts, embracing a philosophy of total availability.
The colors are partly inspired by a satellite view of Alexandria and partly by insights from competitors' color analyses. The colors are designed to help Bakr stand out from the competition and to offer the user a delightful experience.
The font used was the one suggested in the contest guidelines.
Before arriving at the final result, I tried various combinations of circles and conducted extensive research through different platforms and search engines to verify that there were no previous results similar to mine.
